Our History
What’s New Worship was developed out of a church league basketball program, when a drug addict that was trying to get his life together, was asked why he wouldn’t show up at church, where people could help him. His answer broke Pastor Andy’s heart as he heard these words, “I don’t have church clothes, and people look at you funny.” Pastor Andy knew that something had to change. He knew then that there was a calling to do church in a NEW way! A church where that wasn’t ever going to be an issue again… where people that were looking for God, could walk into a facility and not feel judged or ashamed of who they were, but instead see and feel LOVE! A small group (many of whom are still with What’s New) started to meet in a class room and came up with the dream that we are living out today! With 2 Corinthians 5:17 as our base verse, What’s New Worship “The Church That Doesn’t Care” started in a gymnasium on 10/10/10 with about 50 people at its first service. In 2013 we were called to step away from our comfort zone and run our church independently. In April of 2013 we had our very first service at the Holiday Inn Banquet room. God continued to bless with miracle after miracle. Speakers and a sound system were donated and we became the mobile church. We quickly started to run nearly 85 to 90 people on Sundays and recognized quickly that we needed a next step! In 2014 we moved over to the Travelodge Banquet center in Winchester Va and continued to see God move as we quickly grew over 100 people and we began to have more Bible studies and classes begin to help disciple our church. In 2015, We knew it was time to move once again and God showed us our current facility, which just happens to be a shopping center! We did not have nearly enough funds to make this happen, BUT GOD just so happened to give us a shopping center that was used previously as a church! We knew that God was blessing. A Sanctuary, Kids Rooms, Office Space, and a fellowship area were all ready to go. The former church gave us a great deal on many of the things that we still used today, along with other incredible miracles that helped us furnish and occupy this space. We currently run about 200 on Sunday mornings and our ministries are growing in leaps and bounds. God is not finished! We are looking to build a community center that will hold over 1000 people and will have athletic fields, courts and plenty of room to host events, and ministries for all types of people! Greater things are yet to come and we believe these things will happen if we continue to “Love God and Love People! That’s Our Plan!”
